Fear of the Unknown

Whenever I am going into an unfamiliar situation, I prefer to dress more subdued. This means  leaving out the statement necklaces and sticking with pants instead of skirts.  I just don't want to be over dressed, but I still want to appear put together. Originally I was going to wear a blazer to the coffee with the Principal meeting that we have at my daughter's school, but because I didn't know what to expect, I chose a cardigan with a blazer style instead.  In the end, I felt completely comfortable in this outfit and the meeting turned out to be quite enjoyable.
I couldn't help but notice the cute strip of lace on the tag of the cardigan.  That's Anthro for you!
I snapped this picture at Anthropologie this weekend of the Florascape Moto Jacket.  This caught my eye because it took me back to the 80's when floral prints were everywhere.  When it hits sale it may be one of those nice, on the go jackets.

Jacket: Anthropologie Curve Collar Cardigan from Guinevere.
Jeans:  Anthropologie AG Stevie Roll-Up jeans from July of 2013.
Tee: Isaac Mizrahi for QVC.  Pink Essentials Long Sleeve Tee

  1. I'm with you, I think it is safer to be more subdued than to seem too flashy. When I have biz trips or meetings with execs, I usually am in business attire - so my heels may be blue, but I'm not pattern mixing or loading on the baubles or anything like that.

    1. I'm so glad to hear you say that. Whenever I leave out the jewelry, I wonder why I even bother to buy say, the fun Anthropologie or J.Crew pieces. But they sure are a lot of fun when I do get around to wearing them.
      Have a great day,

  2. I like your subdued outfit. I think it looks nice. I have never gone to one of those meetings. But I agree it is best to stay conservative, but still pretty. Lusting after that floral motto jacket! I don't think it is online yet. I want to watch it in my wishlist! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Even when I stay conservative, it's not unusual if I have pink on. Since it's my favorite color, I can't help but pull out a pink tee or shoes to add to a color like black. I have so much pink I don't really think about it because it's like a neutral to me.
It was so nice to hear from you,

  3. I totally remember those flower bomber jackets from the '80's. We wore them with ankle zip acid wash Guess jeans and a side ponytail. Totally tubular! If you get it I can't wait to see your 2014 take on the flower jacket.
Great outfit to wear for meeting the principal!

    1. I still have a pink jean jacket from the 80's! I wore it for Halloween about three years ago when I was an 80's girl. It's nice that it still comes in handy for a costume so I have an excuse to keep it.
I loved your blog on the cat art show. That looked like so much fun!

  4. That is such a cool black cardigan, but with unique details. I adore the floral jacket as well.
