Back in the nineties, I bought too many ribbed turtleneck sweaters from J.Crew. They were on a great sale and because I liked the idea of building my wardrobe with J.Crew, I went a little nuts. They are not my favorite look, so I was recently tempted to get rid of them. However, just as I purchased them because they were J.Crew, I hated to get rid of them because they are, well, J.Crew. Silly, I know but I decided to give them another try.
Red has always been a hard color for me to embrace, so I would like to find a persimmon colored sweater for this skirt, since the beak lends a nice pop of color. I was fortunate to be able to choose the best print of this skirt when it hit sale. I laid out a few on this nice big marble table in the entrance to the Anthropologie dressing rooms and together, my daughter and I ruminated over them.

I pulled out an old skirt that still had the tags on to wear for Valentine's Day Eve. Even though it was a school and work night, we agreed to go out to one of our favorite Japanese restaurants on the eve of Valentines. I was determined to wear this skirt, even if it meant dealing with some frustration at finding a fitted top to compliment the style of the skirt. It's a mermaid style, but with a lot of great stretch, so you can actually eat in it! I assumed a black Anthropologie shirt would do the trick, since Anthropologie seems to solve all problems, but it looked too frumpy. Luckily when I pulled out an old cheap top and shoes, they delivered the cherry on the cake. When this happens it reminds me to be careful when doing a closet clean out. Sometimes it pays to hold on to old basics even if you have upgraded to fancier brands. An old Mervnys got the glory that night, not my Anthro!
I have titled this necklace from Anthropologie the "now you see it, now you don't." It's been surprising how much the availability status has changed. I'm not sure if Anthropologie was doing a trial run and only had a few made or if this necklace was really that popular. As I write this it shows "just a few left." I was lucky to snag it with my birthday discount and even after that, the thing got cancelled on me. When it came back in stock yet again, I quickly called Anthro to reorder and I reminded them of my birthday discount, of course.
Ever since Prada's lip themed clothing collection from spring 2000, I have been attracted to lip print skirts. When I found this Arden B skirt on Ebay years ago at a great price, I thought I should purchase it so that I could have some style of lip print. Then flash forward many years into the future to the Banana Republic L'Wren Scott collection from November 2013 and I had to pounce on that lip print skirt! As soon as I get a decent blog photo, I will introduce that one.

It's hard to keep me away from pink, as was evident the other day when I had originally planned on wearing all blue. Because a belated birthday present from my mom was fresh out of the package, it didn't take long for me to realize that it would be a good pairing with this Anthropologie blouse. I had a nasty cold on my real birthday so this necklace turned into more of a Valentine present at a recent family get together.
I am a super fan of Kenneth Jay Lane and all of my pieces have been purchased from QVC. Since most of us are too busy to sit and watch QVC, I have found that tivo-ing my favorite shows is the best option. It's so nice to click on a show after everyone has gone to bed and have the ability to fast forward or rewind through certain items. The frustrating part is if you miss a good deal as I did last night on a pair of Isaac Mizrahi flats. Easy Pay offers should last longer than an hour. I'm eating dinner between 7:00 and 8:00 PM, so I have missed many Easy Pays.
This is my little Tulip Tree that refuses to grow. I did feed it during summer and these are the most blooms I have ever had, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it gets bigger.

I decided to pull out this neglected fox sweater that had been buried under other neglected fox sweaters. This sweater was the one that got the ball rolling and paved the way for many other animal sweaters to enter my life. It was November of 2012 and Old Navy presented this perfect fox with a nice color combination. I also purchased the owl sweater that was in the same collection on impulse and I have worn the owl more often than the fox. It's nice and funny when impulse purchases work out that way.
I wanted to find a good winter scarf to wear with the fox since I didn't like the boat neck style of these sweaters. Although I didn't wear the fox necklace with this outfit, I wanted to add it to the close up photo of this cute fox.
ModCloth has a great sweater called the Happy Go Ducky that has a cute duck that I added to my wish list. It's $70 which is not too appealing when I paid about $25 for my Old Navy Fox and Owl.
Sweater: Old Navy from Fall 2012.
Jeans: Kmart Route 66. Old
Scarf: Isaac Mizrahi for QVC. Cabled Eternity Scarf with Metallic Detail.
Necklace: Anthropologie Silva Pendant Necklace from Fall 2013.
Shoes: Kenneth Cole Luka Ballet flats from Costco.
While doing some early spring cleaning, I came across this sample CD from Anthropologie. I vaguely remember receiving it with a catalog order back in 2004, but I'm still not exactly sure when I got this thing. The good news for me is that Suzanne Vega is on the CD and I had recently been wanting to start seeking out some of her songs to buy. I can now cross "Tom's Diner," off my list!

Cardigan: J.Crew Jackie in orchid. Many pretty colors including a soft wisteria available now.
