Pretty Swans and Old Sweaters

Back in the nineties, I bought too many ribbed turtleneck sweaters from J.Crew.  They were on a great sale and because I liked the idea of building my wardrobe with J.Crew, I went a little nuts.  They are not my favorite look, so I was recently tempted to get rid of them.  However, just as I purchased them because they were J.Crew, I hated to get rid of them because they are, well, J.Crew.  Silly, I know but I decided to give them another try.
Red has always been a hard color for me to embrace, so I would like to find a persimmon colored sweater for this skirt, since the beak lends a nice pop of color.  I was fortunate to be able to choose the best print of this skirt when it hit sale.  I laid out a few on this nice big marble table in the entrance to the Anthropologie dressing rooms and together, my daughter and I ruminated over them.

Sweater:  J.Crew, Old.
Skirt: Anthropologie Odette by Troubadour.
Necklace: Anthropologie Paradiso from Spring 2013.
Shoes:  Coach Jayne Spazzalato, old.

  1. I love that skirt - looks so chic on you! I'm not a big fan of red either, but I also like persimmon. The orange-y undertones make it a little more fun and springy. It is a tricky color to find, though! And that necklace! Anthro, of course. They have some great oversize bauble necklaces that I'm in love with right now. They're such great accessories because they add such a great pop of color and can pull together really tricky color combos!

    1. Thank you Liz! I love costume jewelry and I agree that the Anthro pieces are so much fun. I also like the variety that Anthro offers.
Persimmon will be harder to find since more items are offered in red than orange, but it could be a fun shopping challenge.
      Thank you for stopping by,

    1. Thank you Jessica. The necklace is fun with all of the fall colors. It makes me wish that I had bought the other one. I thought the other one had some greens in it, but I can't quite remember.
We Anthropologie fans have a hard time saying no to animal prints! This was put on my wishlist as soon as I first discovered it.
      Have a great day,

  3. Oh my gosh! You got that skirt! So cool! I loved that skirt, but I just had no idea how to style it. It is so nice to see it on you. I really like the necklace.

I do not know that I have but two red items in my closet. It is a hard color for me to work with. Mostly because I want to blend in. I like how you added it here.

    1. Maybe you can still snag this skirt. The other day I was wearing one of my favorite long sleeve cotton tees in a rust color and realized that could be a good choice for this skirt. I think it is versatile and I know you could swing it.
I appreciate red on women who can wear red, but since I have to deal with rosacea I usually stay clear of red near my face. But pink is another story since I love it too much!
      Thank you,
      Stacey

    1. Thank you so much! It is a nice skirt, even though it should have a lining. It is one of those items that is typical Anthropologie and so fun.
      Have a great evening,
