Old Blazers and Klondike Costumes

Whenever I find something in my closet that I'm not sure should stay or go, I pair it with an Anthropologie item and see if it can be saved.   Last year I started taking a lot of clothing to the tailor only to wonder later if some of the jackets should have just been donated instead.  Some things looked as if not much had been done.  This particular blazer was not part of the group but I do think it needs tweaking.  But if it's not going to look that much different, I really don't want to be bothered.

I was inspired to put on my riding boots and a longer length blazer after seeing the Discovery channels mini series Klondike.  The Gold Rush era has fascinated me ever since I first learned about it in the fourth grade, so it was fun to see a movie that was based on actual people from that time.   I was particularly interested in the savy business woman, Belinda Mulrooney played by Abbie Cornish.  Her costumes reflected a tough edge for dealing with the men, but were paired with feminine colors, like the teal shown in the picture.

    1. Thank you for the nice feedback! This is one of those outfits that I sit back and wonder, does it really work or not. I have gotten so used to the J.Crew Boyfriend style that these longer blazers seem more dated.
      Thank you for stopping by,

  2. I love your thematic outfits! I have to say the riding boots and statement necklace definitely freshen up the blazer and give it that sharp equestrian (or gold rush!) vibe!

    1. Thank you Liz! It's nice to know that adding the boots and the necklace freshened up this look. That was exactly what I was hoping for.
By the way, your latest Roxy Effortless Anthro outfit photo was amazing!
      Have a great day,

  3. I think the blazer is a classic and love how the necklace dresses it up!

And to answer your question about the scallop-tied boots. They are holding up really well. I have to say that I don't wear them a ton (maybe once a week) but they are still looking new. Hope that helps!

    1. Thank you! This necklace is really nice. I was able to use my birthday discount on it and I have the blue/green one wish listed.
Thanks for you response on the Scallop-tied boots. I will keep my eye out for this brand for next year.
      Thank you,
      Stacey

  4. Oh my gosh! This is my favorite outfit! I love it. I love the pattern. The boots. The necklace. Everything.

I purchased the Scallop Tied Boots on a popback for $80. They are really cute. In fact, I wore them today. I wish they had a zipper because when I pull them on over tight pants, they bunch the pants up and it is a pain. So, I would say worth the sale price. I also think you could probably find a pair by calling customer service. I have seen more popback.

    Hope that helps!

    1. Thank you very much! To think, I almost did not post this outfit because I questioned the fit of the jacket and I was in that bad lighting. I think the AG brand jeans saved it, as they do with everything else.
I noticed that about the boots as well, but I just chalked it up to them being too big for me. You have had great luck with pop backs so I am following your lead with leaving older items in my wish list section.
      Have a great weekend,

  5. I like the blazer the way it is. It is so on trend right now. Maybe wait a couple of years when this look isn't "in" anymore to get it tailored? Love the look!

    1. Thank you Cynthia! Recently I did notice a fashion piece that featured a model wearing a longer blazer. I think I will just save a trip to the Tailor on this one and take in some skirts instead.
      Have a nice weekend,
