Playing Dress Up in Anthropologie

I think those of us who take dressing room photos are brave souls, at least in this situation.  The lighting is awful for picture taking, not to mention the challenge of holding an I Phone steady while trying to strike a decent pose.
This Arcata Dress by Weston Wear got a blurry picture, but the dress itself is surprisingly comfortable.  The top has a nice stretch so I went for my regular t-shirt size of small.  I wish listed this one, but it's not number one on my list.

I have seen some bloggers just focus on the outfit, while leaving out a head shot.  This would eliminate the awkward question of, "Should I smile?  Look into the camera?"
A lot of times I seem to be between sizes and the 50's style Rhododendron dress is a good example of this.  The picture above is a size 4 and the one below is a 2.  The 4 is more comfortable so I have wish listed this size.  Because this is hot pink and one of my favorite silhouettes, I can't wait for it to hit sale.
I have been in love with Maxi dresses lately and I have also enjoyed Megan Draper's style in Mad  Men.  The green print reminds me of the early 70's maxi dresses that the character has been wearing in the current season.

This dress is comfortable and very pretty but I wish the shoulder area was more of a traditional sheath style.  It reveals more of the shoulder area which means you need a special bra.  I really don't want to have to go bra shopping for this dress.  It is so lovely that if it gets marked way down, I may go for it or I could just hold out for another Megan Draper dress to come along.  But oh, the print is gorgeous!

  1. Ooooh fun! The hot pink is my favorite on you. You wear the shade so well, and it's such a fun, preppy piece. I can see you pairing it with your different cardigans and colorful statement necklaces.

I've been eyeing the first dress, too. But I noticed in store that it's sheer up top? I ran my hand behind the fabric and could see my skin through the mesh. But in your photo, it looks fine. Are you wearing a cami underneath, or does the mesh not stretch enough to reveal the skin underneath?

As for the maxi dress? Swoon! The silhouette is fabulous on you. You look so sleek and elegant and lovely. Very Downton Abbey! You look ready for a stroll in the gardens with a giant sun hat!

    1. The hot pink was my husband's favorite and mine as well. I was concerned about the stretchy top of the first dress too. Once I tried it on in the dressing room, I just thought of it as an easy, breezy everyday dress. One thing to note is that the dressing room lighting is on the darker side. I think all of us who are interested in the dress should probably walk out to the nearest window and see if it is going to be a problem. It's very comfortable and would be nice for traveling.
Let me know if you try it out,

  2. I agree with Liz! That maxi dress is swoon worthy! And that pink is gorgeous on you!
Thank you for doing these reviews! I love to read dressing room reviews but hate doing them for the reasons you mentioned above.

    1. Thank you for the compliment on the dress. I love that pink one.
I forgot to add the other problem about dressing room photos which is hair. With each item that gets slipped over your head, the hair gets messier. Especially while swimming through a maxi dress trying to find the other end to slip your head through.
      Have a great weekend,

  3. I think my favorite is the maxi. It is just wowza on you. I really like it. And I also love that pink dress. You are so lucky to have pretty arms and be able to go sleeveless. I never feel comfortable without sleeves.

Thank you for the reviews. I might do some soon. It is kind of a pain, though. So thank you for doing it!

    1. Thank you for the sweet compliment. If the Maxi goes on a second mark down, I may consider it. It is a really nice dress and it will probably sell really well.
Reviews are a pain! You do great reviews and have great patience for it.
      Have a great day,

Yes, I don't get this style of having dresses and tops being cut to low in the under arm area. The dress is so pretty though.
      Thanks for stopping by,
