Pumpkin Flavored Foods

Lately I have been having fun discovering old and forgotten clothes in my closet.  The dresses have been the most fun to go through and I have been trying to get as much wear out of these summer items before the colder temperatures hit.

I'm still holding on tightly to summer and yesterday I pulled this cute floral handbag from the wall where I hang my decorative purses.  But I am gradually embracing the idea that Fall is here and went ahead and decorated for Halloween this past weekend.

With the Halloween decorations popping up everywhere, so too are the pumpkin flavored foods.  I have never seen so many pumpkin flavored items in my life and my theory is it possibly started with good ole Starbucks.  For years people have been giddy every time the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino hits the famous coffee house so maybe the other company's want to capture the pumpkin excitement.

I'm one of the pumpkin lovers out there and I have been grabbing pumpkin related items off the store shelves.  I'm starting to wonder however if these companies are forgetting to do taste test focus groups, because I'm not quite tasting the pumpkin.  This was the case with the Entenmann's pumpkin donuts I mentioned on my last post.

I will give the pumpkin Pop Tarts a B+.  I can taste the pumpkin but it is mild.  I would recommend this for a fun snack that tastes like a mild pumpkin pie.
I expected more from one of my favorites, Quaker Oatmeal.  I have enjoyed Quaker Oatmeal since I was a kid but I think they left out the pumpkin in their oatmeal.  I will be nice and give it a C for the nutmeg content.  I love nutmeg and this oatmeal should be called Nutmeg Flavored.

  1. Hi Stacey!

Pretty dress! Gorgeous color on you! You always find the cutest bags. That one is so sweet.

I like pumpkin cheesecake from Trader Joe's. I get really excited when it comes out and always get it as my birthday cake in November. I also like pumpkin muffins. Bummer about the donuts and pop tarts. Sounds like those companies are just getting in on the pumpkin craze without thinking about the taste. Mmmmm... nutmeg!

  2. Thank you for the nice compliment. Most of my vintage handbags were purchased on Ebay years ago. I used to be really into Ebay but then the merchandise started shrinking and it makes me wonder if vintage sellers moved onto Etsy. I have yet to purchase from Etsy but I am interested in checking it out for selling and buying.
    Have a great day,
    Stacey

    1. I love Etsy! It makes me so happy to purchase from an Etsy seller. I have always had a good experience. I would be interested to hear how it goes if you start selling from there!

  3. Love your purses! And that dress looks wonderful on you.

I have a pumpkin spice tea from David's Tea that is so tasty. Not sure if you have them in the U.S.?

    1. Thank you and I'm glad that you are enjoying the purses!
I have not heard of David's Tea but some of the brands we have are Tazo and Numi. The Numi mint is very good.
      Have a great day,

  4. Love your new old dress! Orange is amazing on you! Gorgeous! You have such a better attitude than I do about this weather. Oh my goodness! I cannot wait for fall and the heat is making me cranky. It doesn't help that our electric bill is insanely high due to the heat wave. And my need to not melt. I am allergic to pumpkin. : (. So I do not ever eat any of the yummy flavored stuff. I love pumpkin spice and I add it to stuff now and then to try to get some of that fall myself. I did make chocolate chip cookies tonight. But that is not the same. : )

    1. Thank you! I have been loving orange lately and having fun finding stuff in my closet.
It's funny that I used to hate the heat but now welcome it. Between 78 and 80 is my favorite but of course I don't want to be uncomfortably hot.
I have been craving chocolate chip cookies lately, so I should make some. I love the Nestle Toll House ones.
      Have a great day,

  5. Haha, now that random waffle recommendation doesn't seem so random! It's part of an ongoing pumpkin-flavored theme. I like!

While the weather outside is still clinging desperately to summer, I've already thrown myself full-throttle into fall.

I adore your handbag, by the way. With the yellows, oranges, and greens, you can totally carry that beauty well into autumn, depending on what you pair with it. Such a gorgeous piece!

    1. We are about to have another heatwave here and I'm still loving the feeling of summer. I'm still tip toeing into Fall with Halloween decorations and of course the pumpkin foods.
I love the Enid Collins handbags and some have reasonable prices on Etsy and Ebay.
      Thank you,
      Stacey
