Vintage Cat Handbag

A hot day calls for a light cotton dress and the fun part is adding all the fun accessories.  I did leave off one of my favorites, the necklace, because the eyelet lace was jewelry enough.

I rarely bring out my vintage handbags which is a shame.  Sometimes it's just easier to grab my everyday handbag that has everything I need packed inside.
I decided to take the time to dust the jewels off of this cute cat purse with a cotton ball and bring her along.

At first I had a brief feeling of silly, wondering if a forty-something woman should be walking around with a fairly worn, old handbag.  But it's so cute, I quickly banished the thought.
If I'm going to be doing a lot of walking, I love to wear the Lands End Gatas shoes that feel like slippers.

Dress: Isaac Mizrahi Eyelet Trim dress for QVC.
Handbag: Vintage Enid Collins.
Belt: Anthropologie Stepping Stone Stretch Belt. From last year.
Shoes: Lands End Gatas.

  1. LOVE that cat bag! What decade is that from?
Ha. As a fellow fortysomething I too worry about wearing cat themed stuff or carrying around my cat bag but you know - cat fashion is so in style right now that I think it's okay. And that bag is unique and subtle and interesting - you can get away with it. And I think you will even when cats on clothing is not a fad anymore. Bye the way, it does not look worn at all.
Your dress is really pretty too. Love the color and the eyelet.

    1. Thank you Cynthia.
I'm pretty sure that the Enid Collins are from the 60's. She did a lot of whimsical themes and pictures. Start keeping an eye out for them, as they seem to be plentiful and in different price ranges. I bought two of my cat purses on Ebay.
I'm glad that cats are in style now. I bought a cute cat sweater from Forever 21 and later decided to give it to my daughter because it seemed a little too young for me. But there are still some age appropriate cat clothing to be had.
      Have a great day,
      Stacey

    2. Thank you for that info on Enid Collins. I had no idea. Heading on over to Ebay now to explore. I always forget about Ebay!

  2. What a great statement piece you've found in that bag! I also love the embellishments on the belt. It's those thoughtful touches that I just adore! You look gorgeous in aqua, too. It makes your skin look positively glowy!

    1. Thank you Liz,
It is a great bag and the Anthropologie belts seem to be the cutest around.
It's good to take the time out and use fun accessories, but it's so easy to have things become lost in the closet. I have my fabric belts in a plastic box to keep moths out, but I would rather hang them up and have easier access.
      Have a great day,
      Stacey

    1. Hi and thank you Liana!
I was thinking that I should show more pictures of my handbags. I always feel that I need to show them off with an outfit to keep a certain pattern going on the blog, but it's so hard to take outfit photos all the time.
Maybe I should just show accessories from time to time.
      Thanks for stopping by,
      Stacey
